"Dr Weiss has helped me heal several chronic conditions
which doctors in the traditional medical system were unable to understand
or offer solutions for. Using his system of diagnosis — and prescription
of homeopathic remedies, gemotherapy and nutritional supplements—I
have found immense relief from chronic tendonitis in my forearm, allergies,
and, most recently, chronic TMD. His knowledge and understanding of the
body's natural healing processes is second to none. I would recommend
him to anyone without hesitation. "

"When I first had been referred to Dr. Sid Weiss, I could
only work five hours a day and three days a week. My energy was very low
and my immune system was very weak. Also I was on heavy medication for
asthma. After six months of visiting Dr Sid Weiss, I was able to stop
the medication
and my immune system started to get stronger. Now I can work 5 days a
week and 8 hours a day without being tired. Enjoy!"

Dr.
Weiss is a Naturopathic Physician practicing in Vancouver since 1980.
He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto
and went on to attend and graduate from Naturopathic College, in Portland,
Oregon. In 1986 he journeyed to Beijing to study Acupuncture and Traditional
Chinese Medicine. Since 1992 he has specialized in Auricular Medicine,
which uses the ear and pulse to pinpoint organ and emotional blockages
and to test for pathologies and toxicities.
I was born in Toronto, Ontario during the baby boom decade. Growing up in the 1960's, I was part of a generation that believed that they could change the world and make it a better place.
In 1971, I traveled across Western Europe, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and finally into India. There were many incredible adventures and experiences along the way and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to travel and live in these countries at that time. India impacted me tremendously, with its cacophony of culture and religion. I felt that it was like seeing the ancient world, in stark contrast, to the affluent west that I was brought up in. It was an eye opening journey and life changing journey. While in Madras, South India, I engaged in a 10 day Vipassana Meditation course under the direction of G.S.N. Goenka. That course affected the way I experienced the world and thereafter, I began a lifelong practice of meditation.
After completing my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto, I began working as a child care worker at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, just east of Toronto. I was horrified by the use of pharmaceuticals and the dismal diet that the adolescents I cared for, were subjected to. Around that time, I met my first Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Richard Pragnall and was introduced to Homeopathy and the concepts of Energetic Medicine. Within a few years, I was enrolled in National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Wichita, Kansas and then moved on to Portland, Oregon.
When I first arrived in Oregon, I was enchanted with the natural beauty there and fell in love with the ocean and the mountains as well as the fresh, alternative lifestyle and culture. Portland, being a Mecca for alternative and holistic health, was stimulating and enriching. After graduating from Naturopathic College in 1980, I moved to Vancouver. I had the good fortune to be invited to practice with Dr. Joe Boucher. Dr. Boucher was famous in Naturopathic circles, for being one of the few doctors that had helped to keep Naturopathy alive during the lean years of the 60's and early 70's. I started my professional career in Dr.Boucher’s small office, connecting with the heart of the alternative community and finding a home here in Vancouver.
Although, I had studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture at Naturopathic College, I was interested in learning more. A former classmate and close friend had returned from attending the Beijing Acupuncture Training Center and gave it rave revues. So in 1985, I traveled to Beijing to study Acupuncture and I had the good fortune to be assigned to the out patient department of the famous Guanamen Hospital. I practiced under "Chi Daifu" or Doctor Chi, who was both a western trained Medical Doctor and a TCM doctor. Chi Daifu was an extraordinary, generous and compassionate physician. I was most impressed by the profound love and compassion evident in her eyes, as she would needle an infant with epilepsy.
Returning from China in the late 80's, my practice focus became TCM, both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. I did, however, continue to maintain the traditional Naturopathic emphasis on nutrition and particularly on detoxification. In 1989, I attended my first Auricular Medicine training in Victoria, with Dr. Mikhael Adams. Dr. Adams had been a close friend at Naturopathic College in Portland and he had been studying, over the years, with the famous Dr. Nogier in France. I had found the concept of Auricular very inspiring and within a few years, Auricular Medicine had become my primary diagnostic tool and testing protocol. Over the last 13 years, I have become established in the bioenergetic approach of testing, treating and prescribing.
I count myself fortunate to have a very rich life in Vancouver and enjoy a thriving professional practice as well as a wonderful family life with my wife Alannah and son Avi. I have belonged to a men’s group since 1990 and I feel that the individual men in the group continue to provide me with inestimable emotional support. Meditation has long been a foundation in my life and in 2005 I became a member of Nalandabhodi Vancouver as well as a student of the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. As well, I have been a student of Qi Gong, since my 1985 introduction in China and have studied with Master Peng Jiu Ling in Vancouver. In 1996, I began to study “Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong”, which is a modern, newly created Qi Gong, with Master Li Jun Feng in Portland, Oregon. I have continued my study over several years, participating in courses offered in Portland and have subsequently attained my teaching qualification. I have taught the “Quan Yin Standing” form in Vancouver since 1999. This blissful Qi Gong, I joyfully practice early each morning on my back deck.
